Holy wow! That’s all I can say. This morning we awoke to light – moderate snow fall. The SPC even has an mesoscale discussion out as I write this concerning an area of moderate – heavy snow moving E across the I-80 corridor in Iowa.
Looking at a few LSR’s from this morning, areas in SW/W Iowa seem to have 3-5 inches of the white stuff on the ground, while those of us further east are only waking up to a half inch at best. Per the NWS, Des Moines tied thier record for the earliest snowfall. Let’s hope this isn’t a glimpse at things to come this winter!! 😉
In case others are in shock, I’ll attached a pic from the KCCI Schoolnet Webcam Network, showing the snow on the Knoxville webcam.

Better you than us, but it does seem a tad early for snow in the midwest.
