April 14th thru the 16th, 2011 will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the worst severe weather outbreaks in a long while. 200+ preliminary tornado reports were received during the 3 day period. Wowsers!
The outbreak started in OK/TX on the 14th and ended last night (16th) in the eastern Mid-Atlantic states. Unfortunately, there are reports of up to 45 fatalities across multiple states.
Multiple “bigger” cities suffered damage, including Raleigh, NC yesterday. I did manage to grab a couple of radar pics from the tornadic supercell as it raced towards Raleigh yesterday.
My thoughts and prayers go out to those affected. I know I keep saying this, but please make sure you have a working weather radio and take the necessary precautions when severe weather heads your way. 2011 is becoming a very deadly year.
