Storms season finally starts!

After what seemed to be a long and drawn out winter, storm season as FINALLY arrived!

This past week has brought warm, seasonal temps to the state, and tomorrow will be our first “slight” risk of the year. A pesky stationary front will lift north today as a warm front, allowing the Central / Southern portions of the state to warm into the 70’s for highs. Beginning tonight however, the front starts sliding back south as a cold front as a piece of energy works it’s was up from the SW USA. Thunderstorms should erupt late tonight and last until late tomorrow evening. Some storms tomorrow may be severe with large hail / wind the primary threats. Along with the storms, copious amounts of rain are forecast to fall across the state. There’s a good potential of 1-3″ of rain in parts of the state thru Wed morning. This is will be a welcome sight to many a farmer across the state, as we’re in the start of the spring planting season. Temps then cool off (again) for a couple of days this week, before rebounding somewhat by the weekend.

If you haven’t already, please check your weather radios to make sure they’re set to go for another severe weather season. Don’t have one and/or not sure where to buy one? Head over to my Awareness & Safety page to find out more information.

Don’t forget, thanks to technology, you can now follow along with many storm chasers as they chase. You’ll find links to multiple different storm chaser live feeds on the bottom right of my page.
